Photo Collage in Encaustic.
Sometimes old images have more to say.
These new pieces start with photographs from series produced for other projects.
They are an attempt to express my experiences of and my connection to
the County
of Elgin.

Some days you just want to stay home.

These pieces are completely computer generated.
Using a variety of techniques in Adobe Photoshop, the final image is usually built from scratch
starting with a blank page, or, in some instances,
a photograph – usually a bad one, is used. The trick and indeed the art, is in knowing
when to stop; in knowing when the image on the screen is conveying
the idea and the message in mind.

These images are intended as a starting point in thinking about how computers
are shaping the world we live in, now and in the future. The vibrant colours,
which are characteristic of things born in a computer, seem magical
and easily thrust the viewer into imagining altered realities.

That’s what good art does: it poses questions that challenge complacency.
