My style can be loosely categorized under the heading of realism, with most often a nature theme. What most interests me at the beginning of any painting is the compositional structure and how the subject matter plays a secondary role in contributing to the organization of the design. My subjects
come from everyday life and observances.
I am intrigued with point-of-view perspective and the subtleties of texture and colour to create a mood. What I choose to depict in my paintings has everything to do with the sheer pleasure in forms and their arrangement.
I believe a painting is a playground for the eye and the mind and should bring a sense of satisfaction and pleasure, with a measure of tension.
Currently I am painting in oils and experimenting with a process of simplification in terms of form and colour. I am bringing more expression to my life experiences and philosophies, which sometimes leads to a measure of stylization and juxtaposition of incongruent imagery.
I am currently a member of the Association of Port Stanley Artists (APSA), the Port Stanley Artists’ Guild, and the St. Thomas-Elgin Artists’ Guild. Within these 3 groups there are numerous occasions for my artwork to be exhibited and sold.
In addition, there are always various opportunities to participate in art shows
in the southwestern Ontario area.
