I’m a local artist living in London ON. I was born in Cippenham England March 01, 1948.
I immigrated to Canada in 1955. I frankly do not know when I started painting it seems that I always had, it always came natural to me. In the early 60's I was lucky to meet with a very kind gentleman O.W. Collier, a talented picture framer and restorer in Guelph. He encouraged me and gave me water colour papers that he said once belonged to a well-known painter in Guelph. The Watchmaker Gallery in Guelph generously debuted my early paintings when I was 14 years old. I continuously paint. In 1992 I sent The Duke of Edinburgh a water colour painting after a slide of it was juried by the Government in Ottawa and permission granted. The painting was of an African elephant standing over his mate shot by a poacher. I sent him the painting because of his work in conservation of the African elephant. Prince Philip happily accepted the painting sending me a letter thanking me. I put a copy of that letter on the back of all my paintings. Pieces of my art can be found in the St. John's Anglican Church in Peggy's Cove, The Louisa May Alcott house in Concorde Mass., and HMCS Prevost in London. I also have a painting in the archives of Leonard Cohen which was created for gifts received closely to and/or after his unfortunate passing. I’ve also gifted a painting to the well-known great Canadian rock star Brian Vollmer of the band Helix, showcasing his beautiful home. |
My mediums are in watercolour and oils. I have a varied range of subject matter, with a special interest in the sea and historical scenes of ships of sail. I paint to tell a story not just for the amusement of the viewer but to touch the viewer in some way.
“I hope you enjoy my art as much as I love creating it”
