Suzette Terry
Bio
Suzette Terry is a mid-career artist, active in the South Central Ontario art scene. She graduated
from the University of Guelph in 1990 with an Honors Degree in Fine Art and Business. She has
been painting now for nineteen years.
Suzette moved back to Canada, from the US in 2001, originally from the Fergus area. She
lives and sails out of Port Stanley now. Artwork themes range from funky figuartives to abstract collage.
And every now and again, something realistic and relevant to Port Stanley!
Suzette has had 15 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous juried and group shows. Her next
solo show is at the St. Thomas Art Centre in March, 2011. As well as a joint show with Susan Tanton at the
Arts Project this coming fall.
Suzette as of late, has been working on collages without a preconceived notion of the end result.
Allowing the imagery to appear, drawing on the subconscious element. This method starts with collaging
hand painted papers and building on the forms that appear, and blocking out others to create clarity.
As one collage is completed another is brought about by the discoveries made in the last. This method
has allowed for spontaneity of imagery and many surprises in Suzette’s work.
Her work can be found in private and public collections in Canada, the US, England, Australia, and China.
When time permits she also teaches others how to conquer their fears to express their own creative talents.
She is currently represented by five galleries in Ontario.
